Sally’s Haul & Hair Update

I just realized that I totally could have put two of these items in my empties, because I used them up. Being coloring boxes, I put the used tubes in there and throw the whole box out. Hence why I didn’t save them. Oh well! I made my first order on Sally’s website and spend $27 on my hair stuff. I also had a 5 dollar coupon, so I treated myself to some no heat hair rollers that I have yet to try. I will be doing that soon though, don’t ch’you worry and I’ll document the before and after on here as well. So, for the hair update part. I thought that I would share with you what my hair looked life before and after each step with the stuff that I purchased.

Before:

As you can tell, all of the silver rinsed out of my hair and it was left with a yellow and slightly ashy tone with white pieces. I needed a toner really bad to get my hair down to a more ashy, grey tone. Grey needs to be ashy or white. Over yellow, the hair can appear green. I remembered hearing about Wella so much on Youtube, so I purchased that.

Wella Color Charm T18: Lightest Ash Blonde

hair

A little too late, I realized that the 050 would have been better for my hair needs, but this one did a great job at getting my hair to that nice white ashy base. I needed a developer to go with it so I bought a 10 volume, which is for depositing color only, no lift. After bleaching my hair twice at the salon, I did not need anymore lift.

Clairol Pure White 10 Volume Developer

hair

This bottle is huge and will last quite a while. I used a half a cup of developer per one bottle (1/4 cup) of Wella T18. The mixture was white but started turning blue on my head. It took me about 10 minutes to apply it and I let it sit on my hair for another 20 minutes before rinsing it out.

I had white ashier hair. My hair where it was bleached twice, because it is stuborn is still more blonde than the rest of it. It is still a level 8 or 9, so it is a pretty light blonde. The rest of it that is white is a level 10, the perfect blonde for grey hair. I bought the color Chrome from Ion for my grey color.

Ion Color Brilliance Demi 7VA Chrome

hair

Again, I used one whole tube of color to about a cup of developer. You always want to use double the developer to color, a 2:1 ratio. I also didn’t want it going dark, because I didn’t see many reviews on this color. All of the videos on Youtube (2), it didn’t look good on the person and I was looking for a purple smoky more true grey color. Well….I got it.

It is so multidimensional! In the light, it is a gorgeous light, true grey and in the shade it is a cool grey with purply tones to it. I absolutely LOVE my grey hair now. It is exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier. BTW, this is after 2 shampoos! It didn’t rinse out. I put the color on for 40 minutes with a shower cap. I am hoping that it lasts at least a month, so I don’t have to do it more often than that. Coloring is still damaging. I feel more like me now. For once, I love my hair. It matches my eyes PERFECTLY. It feels authentic. I found a me color that I am going to be sporting for a very long time.

Sephora Birthday Kit

The most wonderful time of the year, besides Christmas of course, where you can get freebies at all of your favorite stores. I have another freebie from Victoria Secrets to cash in, plus my free large from DDs coupon. I love my birthday month and my birthday happens to land on Mother’s day this year. I’ll be getting a bonus lunch for Mother’s Day too in my birthday month. I don’t like going on the actual day, though. Too crowded to enjoy a nice quite lunch with the two men in my life. There will be so many hauls this month, so I am sorry if you don’t like hauls. This one is just a mini. I actually just went into Sephora for my birthday gift. That’s it. I was in and out and boy! Did that take a lot of will power. I told myself, you don’t NEED anything…and we are going to Marshalls. 🙂

IMG_3860

I just love that little black and white striped bag! I have a little collection of them now, because I like to reuse them for gift bags. I mean, why not? It is a free bag that I keep in good condition to reuse. There were three different gifts you could choose and I chose a CF one. Can you guess it? Yup. The Bite Beauty Kit.

In this free Birthday kit, you get a sample of the Agave sugar lip scrub and lip balm. Oh, yes, to address my swatch photo, that is my new grey hair and I love it. I will have a post going up soon about how I got my new grey hair and in the direct light, my grey is SO light. It is very pretty and I love it. Moving on, on my lips and swatched on the bottom of my hand is Bite’s Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Glace and it is my favorite nude mauve color. Absolutely beautiful on the lips. I would for sure wear this at work. It is a darker your lips but better sort of color. On the top of my hand with a bit of a brown/orange tone is Bite’s Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai. I have yet to use it, but it looks like a color that I would wear as well.

I am so happy with my little birthday kit and now, I have two new lippies to play around with. I can see going through Glace SO fast that I know it will be gone by the end of the year. I now have three minis from Bite beauty and they all have this sweet candy citris scent with nice velvet Nars like packaging. I just love the aesthetic and I can see myself purchasing more from this CF brand.

My Last Sephora Play! February

IMG_3720

I cancelled my subscription tom Sephora Play! because I have a ton of makeup that I need to use up and it was sending me repetitive products two months in a row. I decided that I would rather just buy my own beauty products when I run out than keep getting samples that I might not enjoy. I feel like when I am choosing my own products, I do a ton of research and almost always love it or like it at the very least. I plan on subscribing to Audible. The first month is free and after that, $14.99 a month for any audiobook that they carry and the book is mine forever on my account. I plan on downloading the books to my computer storage, in case they ever go out of business. I plan to listen during my workouts and $15 isn’t really too much to spend a month on a book any way. I used to buy 2 books for $20 practically every month.

Sephora Collection Rouge Matte Lipstick in Rebel Chic 1g $2.33

This lipstick is currently being discontinued at Sephora since the full size is on sale for $7 now. It is a nice wine berry color that looks really good sheered out. It is actually a wearable color for me, but it takes a bit of blotting.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Let’s Go Crazy 1.8 g $20

This is 75% of a full size. I am very happy with the brand and color which is a bright pink. It is the perfect Summer color. I wish I would have gotten a lipstick and a gloss or something, instead of just two lipsticks. I will use this for sure, but probably after I finish my Kat Von D Pool Party Liquid Lipstick, that is a color that I would buy in a full size once finished. Nars has some controversy about not being cruelty free now. Not sure I would actually buy anything from them.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Rosegold 1 g $17.40

Again, this is 3/5ths of the full size. It is in a pretty shade that I will get a ton of use out of, but will not purchase as it is not CF. It is a very decent cream eye shadow and I love using it for day looks. I like simple eye looks and this takes 5 minutes for both eyes to be done. I love doing my makeup on my days off and work at home days. The only day that I do not wear any makeup is on Sundays to give my face a breather. I still wear lipstick though!

Perfume Sample: Atelier Cologne….AGAIN

IMG_3721

Seriously this is like the fourth time this brand has been featured in my bag. I want a sprayer, not a dabber! I have to use up one of my reusable sprayers, so I can dump these dabbers into there. Some of them do smell good layered. I just hate having these sitting in my samples stash. Number one thing I hate about beauty boxes has got to be the perfume samples. If I want one, I would get one at the beauty counter.

PTR Firm X Peeling Gel 15 ml $7.20

IMG_3722

I think peeling gels are a gimmick, plus I got a peeling gel in January. Plus, I got a caviar stick in January in a different color. This box is SO repetitive. I really don’t care about peeling gels. I will use it to use it up, but I would not purchase one myself. I like liquid chemical exfoliates and physical ones best. I have never saw improvement in my skin when using a peeling gel. I just don’t see the hype.

Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb 5 ml $9.60

IMG_3723

Again, in January, I got an eye cream too. This is the reason why I cancelled. I had two months in a row with the same type of products in it. I also decided to go CF and Sephora itself isn’t CF. It sends CF and non-CF products. I didn’t want to buy anymore non-CF items anymore when I can help it. Right now, I have one non-CF product in my shower right now. Most of my skin care, hair, and body care are CF. My makeup is still a mix of things, but I no longer buy non-CF. I make mistakes sometimes, because I am human. I am making a conscious effort though to be CF, a minimalist, non-consumerist, and just overall a more healthy person.

I have a LOT of changes going on in my life right now. I am going back to college, my work dynamic is changing with working from home and doing Saturdays, blogging regularly, Dean and all of his needs and challenges such as school worries, my dad’s impending foot surgery, learning how to drive by getting my permit again, and trying and failing to keep the house in order. I am in the midst of consigning a ton of clothes, because I have been exercising and losing more weight. Also, Dean’s closet got cleaned out and I have those clothes as well. I am going to be dividing the clothes into seasonal piles and try to get as many done as possible.

Also, I found a whole plastic tote filled with my old slimmer clothes. It is like finding money or getting extra makeup that you didn’t pay for in your Sephora order. I am so happy and will be trying on all these “new” clothes to see if I can add more clothes to my closet. Let’s be honest, I don’t have much that really fits me anymore and I am constantly consigning and thrifting. I love losing all of this weight and getting down to my pre-pregnancy size, but I don’t have to cash to buy much clothes replacements. Hence, where the consignment money comes in to buy new clothes. The circle of life.

Selena

Miscellaneous Collection 2018

This is for my pile of random stuff and samples. I also threw in some things that weren’t big enough to have their own category. I still have a bunch of makeup categories to go through after this and then, I won’t worry about this until next year. It has become such a big thing for me that I am not going to go through this again in a few months. Once a year should be plenty enough for a makeup collection.

IMG_3456

I have an ear wash solution here to soothe my earlobes after I wear earrings and my foot soak for the rare foot bath. I’d like to get through the foot soak this hear. I also have a plastic thingy for when I Nair my legs. I am actually a fan of shaving now. Funny thing.

sunscreen

I have my little collection of still good sunscreen to use up this year. The Supergoop! is almost used up and after that, I will use the Clinique on my face. I need separate facial sunscreen or else I get really bad breakouts from using just any sunscreen on my face. I need to buy some sunscreen for my son. I like him to have a really high SPF spray. The other two bottles, I use on my body during the summer. I only use SPF if I am going out in the sun. If it is a day at the office, I don’t apply sunscreen.

conditioner

My dad uses black hair dye over his grey and white hairs. I use his conditioner packets for shaving cream. I have a back stock of these, because I don’t shave as often in the Winter. It is finally getting warmer out, so I’ll be needing to shave twice a week to wear skirts and dresses. I cannot wait for the pool to be ready! I need a good tan right now.

IMG_3495

My collection of sample sized perfumes. I want to be done with them all by the end of the year. I am so glad I quite my Sephora subscription, even if the bags seem to be better after I left. I would rather spend $120 on makeup that I want. Speaking of which, I will have a Sephora Wishlist up sometime in May. I want so much; hence the wish list.

More samples from online orders and some that my friend Danielle gave me. I want to use all of these up this year as well. I am pretty sure that I can do it as long as I remember to. I love trying out samples and new things. I just have to remember to use them. I usually keep a sample in my beauty cabinet now for when I feel like using them. It has gotten me to use them more, so the new spot is working.

IMG_3503

My last pile of samples in my sample storage bag. I have already gotten through some of these and I plan to go through everything this year. I have a big project pan going on and I am going to go through as much samples and deluxe products that I can towards me 200 goal. Although most of the samples don’t count, face masks and the bigger foil packets will as long as it has 0.5 fl ounces. I actually even forgot that I had a few of these things, so I am happy to be reminded.

That is all of my random crap that I wanted to show you, because I want to use most of this stuff up this year. I hope you enjoyed this post and me blogging almost every day. I have been enjoying my blogging time and I am sure that I will find time to post at least twice a week when college is in session.

January Empties

Remember when I said that I would be doing a new format for my empty series? Well, here it is, the moment you all have been waiting for. I decided to show my empties in group photos and flat lays to be able to store more pictures of my products rather than have everything in a single photo. It makes more sens to me this way, since I am a reviewing channel and have been deleting a ton of photos to make room for more photos. I hope you all like this new format. Give me a like if you do!

I will be posting my update post on my Project 200 Pan soon after this one, which will show you how many out of this 45 I will be counting towards my 2018 challenge. I might be adjusting the challenge and make it harder. I guess, it all depends upon how much of this stuff I am using up.

Sheet Mask Collection 2018

I had to separate my sheet mask collection from my skin care collection, because I have so many sheet masks. I love sheet masks, but I hardly have any time for them. I want to make more time for them and do one a week just to get used to using them. I hardly have time with my son running around. Night time or early morning is my only time. Maybe, I will start a Saturday morning pamper routine. We shall see.

sheet mask

I have two masks from Victoria Secret’s and a lip mask from Sephora. I am interested in trying the VS face masks as I bought them at drug store prices. The lip mask sounds nice to use when my lips get really irritated. So, I am saving the lip ones for a special occasion. They aren’t cheap at $5 a lip mask.

mask

I have four here from MJCARE: two Enzyme Q10, one Pearl, and one Brightening sheet mask. I have tried the pearl and brightening and they both bring a great glow to the skin. I haven’t tried the Q10 hence why I have two of them still. They are super affordable on Amazon at $1 a mask. I’m very paying more than $5 a mask ever again when there are so many affordable options out there.

mask

More MJCARE masks: one Sea Weed, two EGF, and one Collagen. I LOVE the seaweed one and my dad enjoyed the collagen mask. I have no clue what the EGF is supposed to do, but I mostly buy sheet masks to moisturize my skin. Anything else is really just a bonus to me. They are great to relax with and throw moisture deep into the skin.

mask

Another 4: Herb and Phytoncide. I just love sheet masks. I have enough for 14 weeks if I used one every week. You may see a sheet mask haul if I use up all of these this year. I really want to try new things, so this could be the push that I need.

Do you love sheet masks?

Sephora Favorites Set

My dad gave me some money for Christmas, so I poped into my local Sephora inside of JCP and I found this little gem tucked underneath a table out of sight. I found JCP exclusive Sephora Favorites Lip Kit in nude. I am so happy and excited to show you these. I am a nude or pop of color kind of girl. I hate reds and any kind of really dark and vampy color unless it is a really unique color. This kit is right up my alley, so I thought that I would share all of these with you. I seriously have not touched this kit since I bought it, because I was waiting to haul it. LOL. This is the Sephora Favorites Lip Nude-ist Lip Sampler set. It contains a full size lipstick and 5 minis. It cost me $29.75 with tax.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Sake 0.05 oz $8.67

This is the first swatch on the left in both pictures. The first one is in indoor lighting and the second picture was in natural lighting with my window. This lipstick is a third of the full size and I really loves the deep pink, more berry toned color. Indoors, it looks more pink, but in natural, it pulls more berry. It is a perfect at the office color and for just running around doing errands. I love a good nude and this lipstick is very moisturizing.

Urban Decay Comfort Matte Lipstick Backtalk $17

This is a full size lipstick in a nice mauve pink color. I love the purple tones in this lipstick and I also live for matte lip colors. I am very much into mattes right now, so bring on the mattes! I will get a lot of use out of it and it is another great one for the office. Really, all of these are very office friendly. Nothing is too out there. I think this lipstick would flatter a lot of skin tones, but I think it is definitely geared towards more fair skinned people than darker skin tones. I feel a lot of reds are made for darker skin color than for fair ones. I wish I could find a flattering red.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme 1.5 g $10.50

This is almost half of the full size and the iridescence is SO PRETTY. I will be using this as a night time treatment to plump and smooth my lips overnight.  I love the smoothing my lip lines effect more than the plumping. It leaves a beautiful shine and if I really like it, it comes in a pretty purple tint. I will buy almost anything in purple. It is a problem.

Bite Agave Lip Mask about $10

It is almost half of a full size and I could get a few uses out of each little lip mask. Since I use a balm every night, I can easily use this up in February. I’m going to use it up and share my thoughts on it.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint Bestie 1 ml $3.34

This is a nice deep brown nude with a hint of pink. I don’t know how I feel about this on my lips, but I like the color better than Birthday Suit which is a little too orange looking on my lips personally. It is so small that I used it once and hit side pan. I bet one month of using this at the office and I can have it almost used up. It holds up well throughout the day. Out of everything, it is the most long lasting.

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss 312 Sugar Sugar $9.34

I love this low maintenance nude glitter gloss. It is so smooth on the lips and looks peachy and juicy on the lips. I would buy a set of these lip glosses if I ever run out of lip gloss. I am not going to be buying much makeup this year. I need to use up what I have before it goes bad and I have way too much. I need to make better decisions and spend my money well. I’s rather buy a fancy serum than a $30 gloss.

The total for these items is $58.85 and I spent $29.75 for it. It is double my investment into the lip shaped box. I think this set was worth it and I will use everything.

With Love,

Selena
