$200 Before 2018 Update #4

I feel like I used up quite a bit in July and so far, I feel like August hasn’t been as successful. We shall see next month. But this update is a big deal for me. I finished a ton of perfume samples and I am still steadily going through them. I’m using up all of my sprayer samples first and then going onto the dabbing ones. I finished up 4 deluxe sized makeup products as well. It’s very hard to go through a lot of makeup, so I’m very happy with the results that I see here. So at the end of June, I used up 7 out of 20 products with the total adding up to $78.74 out of $200. Let’s see what I can add to that.

Perfume samples: 5 = $5

perfume

I enjoyed how sweet the Brittany Spears Midnight Fantasy is. I would pick that one up if I came across it as Marshalls, but I’m on a no perfume buy. It is so crisp and fresh and sweet like candy. I just love it. If I see a bottle at Walmart, I might just have to buy it. The rest of the samples were okay, but nothing that I would purchase for myself. There were no scents that I couldn’t wear. I just didn’t care for them.

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer Conditioning Lip Treatment = $8

makeup

I liked using this as a night time treatment, but I would not purchase it. It felt grainy if I got it on my teeth and I don’t like that sensation. This lasted me forever! I already found my dream night time lip balm, so I’m just trying to use up my balms.

Model Co Lip Lacquer in Viva = $6

makeup

I really enjoyed using this and the peachy color pay off. I took out the stopper and used up every last drop. I would not purchase this, but I am glad to have moved it out of my collection. I’d much rather buy a lip oil. I thought that I wouldn’t like this though and I did. It had a lot of pigment for a gloss and I used this up at work so very appropriate.

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm = $7.20

makeup

I am considering buying this in the full size. I want to use up the rest of my primers first, but when I get down to 1, I really want to buy this. It was very moisturizing and gave my skin a nice glow. I used this mostly on its own and my skin looked flawless with this on. I got a lot of compliments on my skin when wearing this. I need to use up what I have first though. I’ll revisit this next year.

DERMAdoctor DD Cream = $8.76

makeup

This was WAY too dark to use on my face, so I used this on my legs when I wore a skirt to work. My legs looked tanned and toned. It was too dark for my face, but not only that, it was too greasy as well. I’m glad that I used it up and it’s gone. I need to do this with the rest of the creams that I bought/received that are way too dark for my face. It also didn’t moisturize my legs very well. I cut it with some body lotion to help with that.

Okay, I am pretty impressed with the monetary value that I used up in July. I have used up 11 out of 20 makeup items with the total being $113.70 out of $200. I am over halfway there now! I really think that I have a chance at completing this project. Next year, instead of project pans and this series, I will be doing a Finish 100 by 2019 and monthly makeup bags. This series is going so well that I want to pull in all of my other categories like hair and skin care for next year. The makeup bags will be fun, too. Every month, I’ll focus on different items to use up.

With Love,

Selena

Makeup Inventory: Intro

I have decided to do a makeup inventory twice a year: one in January and one mid way through the year around June/July/August. This will help to keep my beauty spending in check and help me see how my makeup is being collected and used up. I have already inventoried my nail polish, lotion, perfume, and skin care backups in Youtube videos and on my blog here. Next year, I’m going to do it in this style where I just do photos and break everything down by categories. In January, I will be inventorying my perfume collection including samples, body products including lotion, sprays, and body gels, nail polish, skin care backups in storage (not currently being used), hair products, and everything makeup.

I will be breaking down my makeup collection by type: lip products, blushes, highlighters, bronzers, face powders, eye shadows, and the like. Some categories are really small so I will combine them with another. This is my complete makeup collection. I don’t keep makeup in my purse. I keep makeup in a small Ipsy bag and I put that into any bag I have. It’s products that I use at my desk at work and such. I emptied that bag and included the items. Like I said, this is going to be my complete collection.

I don’t have a huge collection of makeup, but I really hope to build it up to include other items that I want. I basically only buy makeup three times a year: tax season, my birthday, and Christmas. I usually spend around $50 to $100 every time on makeup exclusively. I don’t like having a huge collection. I really feel like what I have right now is manageable and I’m looking to use them up to replace them with some new goodies.

My Nail Polish Collection 2017

I have 48 nail polishes. Yes, you heard me right. 48 bottles of nail polish in various stages of being used up. I’m concentrating on the bottles that are close to being empty and using those up first. Then, I will move on to my Julep nail polishes. After that, I can use whatever full bottle of nail polish that I want. I want to try to get my collection down to about 10 nail polishes: a top coat, a base coat, strengthening coat, a spring color, a fall color, a summer color, a winter color, a glitter polish, another glitter polish, and something unique or different like a metallic top coat or something. I already used up one nail polish (so originally had 49 this year). I want to see 5 polishes go this year. I know that is asking for a lot, but I think that I can do it.

So, I only have four more polishes to use up this year. My pink OPI is one that I am currently working on. Possibly the silver or gold glitter after that one. Maybe a mini or two. I have a lot to choose from.

May Empties

I have a whole lot of empties this month that my basket was overflowing. I had to photograph everything and start this post in mid-May. That is how many empties I have this month. I actually even cut May a few days short. I’m writing this on May 28th, because the basket filled up good again. It’s close enough to the end of May and it will just give a little bit of a boost to June. Although, I don’t have anything really close to being empty yet, which is why I just decided to do my count today.

I think 51 empties is enough for one month. I’m happy ending it here early. This was such a heavy month. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish next month. You’ll be seeing plenty of reviews for the next few months to come. I’m behind in my product reviews. I have so many prewritten on paper for my blog. I probably have 50 reviews right now, waiting to be featured. I continue to write them throughout the month as well on paper. I tend to review around 40 items a month on paper, but there is not that many days in a month. Naturally, I got behind. I hope you don’t mind seeing reviews 5 days a week and my more unique posts on the weekends/holidays.

Manicure Monday

This week’s manicure emptied my bottle of Nicole by OPI Roughles Nail Polish in On What grounds?. I really loved this polish and cannot believe that I have finished up a nail polish. It was getting thick towards the end and I could barely get enough product on my nails to do one last manicure. It’s a good thing that Danielle gave me her pink one, but it seems like that one only has one or two uses left too. It’s not as thick, but there is not much left in the bottle at all.

This was after one easy coat and one hard to get anything on the brush coat. I love texture polishes, when done right, two thin coats dry really quick and last at least seven days looking perfect. It is the easiest polish for me to wear at the moment with a 16 month old. He doesn’t give me much time to myself, but when he does, I love to have a quick manicure and pedicure. Yes, I even use texture polish on my toes!

$200 Before 2018

Hey Guys!

It is no secret that I love makeup and that I plan on buying a lot of it this year. I also have a quite modest collection, but I still want to move makeup out off my collection as I move other items in. I have attached some videos at the bottom of this post in case you want to see my makeup collection, what I am currently using, and the storage/collection of my skin/body/perfume items as well.

My plan for this year is to move out 20 beauty items. I also want the total to be $200 dollars. It would be nice to meet both goals of 20 items and $200 worth of makeup. I am happy with just reaching one or the other but my goal is both. That is what I am working towards this year. I don’t have a plan for my other items, because I tend to go through my skin care and body care items. I just ended up with a stockpile, because I used to buy and not use. Now, I really have no problem using up my lotions and such.

I am including perfumes and body sprays in my beauty count, because I consider those items more beauty than body care. I want to use up 5 lip balms, 5 lipstick/gloss/stains, 3 highlighters, 2 blushes, 5 eye items, and ideally 5 perfumes. Face items such as foundations, concealers, primers, and such will be counted, but my focus is on the other products. Samples/foil packets will count as $1 a piece, but not count towards the number count, including perfume samples.

Enjoy some videos! That is my game plan and I plan on updating you guys at the end of April/early May with how much I have used up so far.

With Love,

Selena Hannah ❤

Sweet Manicure Monday

Hello Beauties!

I am back with my first Manicure Monday of the year. Yes, I know it’s Tuesday, but I am still going to put my post up. I love a sparkly blue this time of year and the Rimmel London Sweetie Crush in 002 Blueberry Whizz reminds me of snow and glass slippers. This is my manicure with one thin coat and second thicker coat. I could have done a third for pure opaqueness, but I feel that would have been really thick. I just love this color and I cannot wait to paint my nails next week. Maybe, I’ll paint my toe nails this color, too….

With Love,

Selena
