Sephora Play: January

I am super late to the party in showing what I got for my January Sephora Play box. I thought better late than never and I love knowing the cost breakdown of my boxes. I got box #587 and I have yet to see anyone else get the same box as me. This happens 1/2 the time with my boxes. So, I might be lucky with getting some rare boxes and I do like and will use everything inside my box this month. I have learned so much about my makeup preferences and what I like through this subscription box. I now know to give reds away, because I never look like myself in them. I also know I have too many eye pencils. I prefer lighter shadows eye shadow anything black or really dark does not go with my deep set hooded eyes. I know how to do eye makeup for my eye shape. It’s been a really great 2017 learning about myself in beauty terms.

I like the theme of January, even if it is very overdone. Everything in my box is supposed to enhance or renew a better version of you. I have two makeup items that are very natural looking to enhance your features and I have 3 skin care products. My bonus product is a hair product and I am so happy to not have another perfume sample to use up this month. Those little tubes stack up fast!

hair

Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Masque

I never heard of this brand, but I am happy to have another hair mask to try. I love doing hair masks once a month when my hair starts feeling a bit dried out. I hope it does a good job of moisturizing. Not all hair masks are created equal.

face

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel 1 fl oz $6.80

I was in need of a good exfoliant, so I am happy to now have a decent sized sample in my collection. I have dehydrated oily skin, but in the winter, I tend to get flaky on the areas of my face that are usually oily. I am also getting closer to my 28 birthday (I will be turning 26 this year) and I hear that every 7 years, your skin changes a lot. It is definitely being more dry lately, but I think it is because of the cold weather. I need to drink more water to try to balance out my skin more.

cleanser

GlamGlow Supercleanse Cleanser 0.5 oz $3.20

I love GlamGlow, but they are not cruelty free. I will not buy any of their amazing products, but I will continue to use what gets sent to me. I love the Youthcleanse clay to foam cleanser, so I have high hopes for this one as well. I will use this once I am done with my current cleanser. I only wash my skin at night with a double cleanse, so this would be good for the first cleanse to get rid of dirt and makeup. I usually follow up with a more moisturizing cleanser or a face mask.

eye cream

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream 3 ml $5.30

This eye cream is so expensive when you get so little. I will never have to buy eye cream again, because I keep on getting them in my boxes. I like getting eye cream in boxes though. It helps me determine which ones I would actually buy. I will spend the $30 or $40 on eye cream as long as there is 0.5 oz of product in it. Night eye cream actually works on my fine lines and wrinkles. For the day, I want something really moisturizing to keep my concealer from looking dry and flaky. Eye cream also lasts FOREVER, because you only need a little dab of it for both eyes.

MUFE Artist Face Color B302 Blush $5.75

The top swatch is the blush that I will be using as an eye shadow. It is a nice peachy color that would look pretty in the Spring on the eyes for a simple glow. It is so buttery smooth and pigmented. It also blends out like a breeze. I will look into getting some eye shadows from this brand. Hopefully, their eye shadows are just as good as their blush.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss Kristen 0.07 oz $8

I love this medium brown nude on me. It isn’t too dark and it looks very classic on my lips. It looks like I am wearing liner, but that is just my regular lip color on the edges. It looks so beautiful on me. It is a thick feeling gloss that isn’t sticky. I really love this gloss formula, but I have way too many glosses to buy any more.

The overall price of this box is the lowest I ever got at $29.05, but I absolutely love the variety that I got and look forward to trying out everything. I love it when I get more skin care than makeup and I really hope next month continues that trend.

With Love,

Selena

Sheet Mask Collection 2018

I had to separate my sheet mask collection from my skin care collection, because I have so many sheet masks. I love sheet masks, but I hardly have any time for them. I want to make more time for them and do one a week just to get used to using them. I hardly have time with my son running around. Night time or early morning is my only time. Maybe, I will start a Saturday morning pamper routine. We shall see.

sheet mask

I have two masks from Victoria Secret’s and a lip mask from Sephora. I am interested in trying the VS face masks as I bought them at drug store prices. The lip mask sounds nice to use when my lips get really irritated. So, I am saving the lip ones for a special occasion. They aren’t cheap at $5 a lip mask.

mask

I have four here from MJCARE: two Enzyme Q10, one Pearl, and one Brightening sheet mask. I have tried the pearl and brightening and they both bring a great glow to the skin. I haven’t tried the Q10 hence why I have two of them still. They are super affordable on Amazon at $1 a mask. I’m very paying more than $5 a mask ever again when there are so many affordable options out there.

mask

More MJCARE masks: one Sea Weed, two EGF, and one Collagen. I LOVE the seaweed one and my dad enjoyed the collagen mask. I have no clue what the EGF is supposed to do, but I mostly buy sheet masks to moisturize my skin. Anything else is really just a bonus to me. They are great to relax with and throw moisture deep into the skin.

mask

Another 4: Herb and Phytoncide. I just love sheet masks. I have enough for 14 weeks if I used one every week. You may see a sheet mask haul if I use up all of these this year. I really want to try new things, so this could be the push that I need.

Do you love sheet masks?

Hair Care Collection 2018

I have a ton of hair care products in storage. I am obsessed with having healthy shiny hair, so I have a lot of different products that do different things.  I have fine, thin hair that is hella oily at the scalp and dry on the ends. I haven’t found anything that makes my hair less oily. I only wash my hair once to twice a week, so from what I heard it should be less oily than when washing it every day. If you know something the gets rid of oily roots, let me know. Dry shampoo only works so much.

hair oil

I have two hair oils. The Moroccan Oil is a definite repurchase after I finish it up and open up the Ghost Oil. I love the scent of the M oil so much. I will see if I can finish the M oil this year, but I also have a few shine sprays that I need to get through as well. I have two thirds of it left and a little bit of oil goes a long way. Not sure if I can meet this goal this year, but I am going to try.

hair mousse

I have a love hate relationship with mousse. If it works, I love it. If it makes me greasy, I hate it. My hair has fallen out of love with TRESemme and it makes my roots greasy and crunchy. The Herbal Essence smells amazing, but I am not sure that I see any difference whatsoever. I just recently got the eSalon Above The Clouds Volumizing Mouse, so I can’t say too much about it yet. The Big Sexy Hair Root Pump I have yet to try. I would like to use up the TRESemme and the Big Sexy Hair can this year.

dry shampoo

I have four dry shampoos here and I know that I can finish off the Drybar Triple Sec and my favorite, Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I have TRESemme Waterless Foam Shampoo that is just ehh…..I don’t care for it, so I’d like to use it up. I have been using Lush No Drought on the weekends as deodorant. I don’t like it for dry shampoo, but I’m going blonde, blonde. So, maybe I will then.

hair

I have a backup matching set of Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner, A Deva Curl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Mask, and a John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Conditioner. I should have no problem getting through all of these this year. I wash my hair once to twice a week, so it takes me longer than most to use this stuff up. Still, these are small containers, so it should be all gone by the end of the year.

shine spray

I have two aerosol shine spray and one manual spray. I want to finish off the manual spray and then probably the Rusk spray this year. I have the Rusk Elixir Mist, L’Oreal Glass Shine, and Nick Chavez Starlet Shine Spray. I love these silicone hair coating products that give my hair shine and strength. I have an oil I want to go through, so hopefully I can balance out these products to use them up.

leave

I have two leave in products that I like to use on freshly washed hair. I will probably only get through one of these this year, since I only use them 52 to 104 times a year. Hmm….maybe, I will get through both of them. We shall see. I have the Nexxus Pro Mend Split End Binding Leave-In Creme, Infusium 23 Moisture Replenish Leave-In Creme.

hair

I have a few miscellaneous products. I will finish the B&BW True Blue Spa Malibu Wave Spray and the TRESemme hairspray. The TIGI Bed Head After Party Smoothing Creme will not be used up. I am trying to use up a lot of shine sprays and an oil. I won’t have enough time to use this one up too. I have plenty of hair care products for next year and this year will be a learning process of finding out what I really like in my hair.

I have a huge hair collection, because I like to invest in my appearance. First impressions are everything.

Perfume Collection 2018

I have done a good job keeping up with my perfume samples last year. I still have a ton of samples, but I am working on them. I was also able to move out two full size perfumes last year, I believe. I am now going to show you my collection and which ones I plan on trying to pan this year. I am going to try to use up ALL of my perfume samples this year, while trying to keep up with using up any that I get in boxes throughout 2018. Hopefully, it will still leave room for me to use up a few perfume bottles of my own.

Body Splashes

These are the body sprays that I have in storage. I have one that I am using on its last legs. I just these as bathroom sprays. Once I am all done with these, I will buy one for that purpose only. I much prefer perfume on my skin since it lasts so much longer without having to be touched up very often. I still welcome them as gifts. I just know not to gift them to myself if I already have one. They take FOREVER to use up. I have two B&BW sprays in Sweet Pea and Seaspray. I have two VS sprays in Sweet & Flirty and Fresh & Clean. Sweet & Flirty is my favorite of the four.

Perfume

I have plans on trying to use up three of the above perfumes: B&BW White Citrus, MaryKate & Ashley #2 Orange, and Lady Gaga Fame. They all have half a bottle or less left over and I want to use them up. White Citrus does not last more than an hour on my skin. MaryKate and Ashley is my oldest perfume and I love it. I don’t want to waste it though and let it go bad. I’m half way done with Fame and I’m over the black perfume novelty. The scent is unique but I hate that the liquid is black. In Control is my second oldest perfume and I love the sweet fragrance. I know I’ll have to work on it next year, because I think it is around 10 years old.

perfume

I want to finish off all of these perfumes this year: Coty High School Musical, DKNY Be Delicious Pink Blossom, Harajuku Lovers Love, and Curve Crush. Realistically, I will probably only finish the DKNY one. Love and Crush only have a small amount in them, so they are a possibility if it is possibly to use up how much perfume I want without wasting it unnecessarily. I want to enjoy what I use up, not use up just to use up. The HSM perfume changed color but not scent. It needs to be a priority this year.

perfume

My Hilary Duff With Love perfume was missed in this photo, because I was using it at the time. I only have a third left and I’m enjoying it. I have Brittany Spears Curious, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, and B&BW Twilight Woods are pictured above. Curious and Juicy haven’t been opened and I have 2/3 of the roll on left. I would only like to use up the roll on. Anything else would be a bonus.

I have huge ambitions for 2018. Wish me luck. Do you have perfume goals?

Dean’s ABA Week 1/12/18

Dean had a break through week this past week. He did his ring stacker toy all by himself and can continue to do all by himself with me at home. He has acquired a ring stacking skill! I am so proud of him that I even took him out for ice cream. I am just so proud of him in general. He never really gets mad and is mostly a happy little guy. He’s not letting a thing like autism hold him back from having a good time like any other child. I’m sick of hearing “I’m so sorry” when I tell someone he has autism. I want to hear anything else but that. I’m not sorry. He wouldn’t be my boy without it. All it is is a challenge. He isn’t dying and I’d rather him have a life long condition than have cancer. Is that a horrible thing to say for people who have kids with cancer? I’m sorry but its the truth.

1/8/18 – Ann

Make-up session for last Thursday. Dean sat briefly for different toy activities. Seeing some toe walking. Liking textured puzzle, books, and stacking blocks.

1/9/18 – Joyce

Very good session! Dean independently placed ring on stacker right after being frustrated. Progress with books, eye contact. Using many toys.

1/9/18 – Ann

Dean did well today. Looking for prompting to complete toys. Great doing ring stacker. Great eye contact when playing bubbles.

1/11/18 – Ann

Dean had a great day! Did ring stacker independently many times. Also starting to do more to put in puzzle pieces, pull handle on see & say, and stack blocks.

1/12/18 – Ann

Dean did great again this morning. Really watching my mouth when I spoke – “buh, buh” for bubbles. “mmm” when eating. First time put all the balls on hit-a-ball toy. Tried to put block on stacking boxes.

This week was full of progress, which makes every week before worth it. I know he won’t always have great weeks, but this was a great one. My life has big changes coming up ahead and some of it is scary but it is all good. I’m hoping to get my dream job as an Operations Specialist I, so I can work with the Data Analysts. I want to be a Data Analyst as my career. This would get me one step closer and being able to support my family financially would be great. My interview is today! Wish me luck!

2018 Inventory

Hey guys!

I wanted to kick off the year with my yearly inventory into all of my beauty products. I will be separating every category into its own post throughout the month of January and possibly into February. I do a second inventory check in half way through the year to help keep me accountable. I want to see how much has changed since last July. I want to know if I am using my stuff up and what and how much that I have left. I am constantly using stuff up and getting in new stuff. My collection is in constant flux.

I just wanted to let you know that these posts are coming as well as project intros for the year, so if you likes these types of posts, give me a like so I know that I should continue to do them. I like doing intros to let you know what’s coming and in the works. I haven’t taken any photos of my makeup collection yet. I plan on doing that next week hopefully. I’m not sure if there are enough days left in the month to get everything up in January. I have so many post ideas! Hopefully, I don’t burn out in a few months from using up all of my ideas. LOL

Dean’s ABA Week 1/5/18

I am really happy that I really like the HMEA representatives that come over to work with Dean. They are reliable and always let you know ahead of time if they will be missing time and when they can, someone fills in for them. I wish his OT would arrange for that. It would be so much better for Dean. He missed Thursday this week because of the snow storm, but otherwise, he had a full week.

1/2/18 – Anne (The regular ABA worker Tues, Thurs, and Fri)

Dean did great remembering routines we started last week. Came to sit with me as soon as he saw toys. Starting with a runny nose. Tired after first hour.

1/3/18 – Joyce (Supervisor, does 3 hours during the week generally: Wed & Fri)

Deb getting to know Dean. Practicing “all done”, “more”, pointing, beginning toy play. Runny nose – allowed staff to wipe. Very interested in staff and toys.

1/3/18 – Deb (In-Training ABA, does only Wed)

Played with Dean today. Worked on pointing, “all done”, and “more”. Dean had a runny nose today. Went over a few items with Joyce.

1/5/18 – Anne

Dean liked ring stacker toy. Looking for my hands to complete toys for him. Worked on pointing, more, and all done. Sat for longer durations on my lap.

Dean had a great week with his ABA girls. To say he is a major flirt wouldn’t be saying enough. He loves his leading ladies. I’m looking forward to more progress in the next week. I have to say that I have noticed that he does sit with me for a longer period of time than he did before. He can sit with me for 10 minutes flipping through a book before wanting to run around again.

Selena
