Decluttered 15 To Jessie

So, I am adding 15 items to my project 200 pan. That brings me up to 115/200 not including the September empties which have not been blogged about as of yet. I have a friend named Jessie who I give Dean’s handmedowns to. Jessie has an almost 1 year old now and I have been giving her clothes and toys that Dean has outgrown. I also have been stuffing in the bag a few things for her as well. This will be the first time that I am giving her a care package for herself of all unused/sealed makeup items (with a few jars of baby food that I found that are still perfectly good. I guess, Dean didn’t like squash). These are all makeup items that I found sitting unused in my collection. Now, some of these things I was really excited to try, but never got around in doing so. If I want to try them, I will buy them. Jessie also has a 4 year old son and she just recently got a part time job. She’s a single mom and we have to take care of each other. I wanted her to feel special and these things were just wasting away…

IMG_20180923_110440

Most of the stuff is all high end and I do remember swatching the Stila but it was too dark for my eyes. The rest of this stuff is untouched. Jessie doesn’t mind lightly used items, but I’d rather give her brand new items and I don’t count swatching the eye glitter once as really used. All in all, I am giving her a Clinique liquid liner, MUFE gel eye liner, Marcelle and Well People mascara, Supergoop! Setting Spray, Smashbox primer, Benefit Wats Up highlighter, Cover FX  Highlighter drops, Nars lip pencil, Tarte Lip Paint, Sephora lipstick, Bite lipstick, VS lipgloss, Stilla Glitter Eye shadow, and Cailyn eye polish.

It feels really good to give and I am not going to miss these items. If I will, I should have at least tried them, but I didn’t. I have told Jessie that I got these mostly in subscription boxes or in giftsets. I have made it really clear to her that I didn’t go out and buy it and could return it. These are all things that I haven’t gotten around to and I’d like to give it to a good home. The only thing she needs to complete a full face is concealer and foundation. I have a bit more room in my drawers and with Christmas releases around the corner…..I could use it.

Selena

Project 200 Pan: July Update

To recap June, I have completed 35.5% of the project and that is 71/200 items. I needed a really good catch up month and I think this past July was the month for it. I was able to use up quite a lot of products, so I should be having at least a couple of review posts up in September from July. Right now as I am writing this, I am on my last week of the semester and I am finishing up two powerpoint presentations. I hate writing presentations. I am not good at them. I would much rather write a paper than do a presentation. I am not artistic and I just don’t have a flare for that sort of thing. Anyway, that’s completely off the topic. Let’s see what I was able to use up/declutter in the month of July that counts towards my 200 pan goal.

13 items to add to the project. I hit pan on the liquid lipstick from bareMinerals. I am currently trying to use the whole thing up now. At this point, I had to remove the stopper, which I count as “panning” lipsticks/lip glosses. The Mark lipgloss has gone bad as I was trying to use it up. Every time I use it too much, it dried out my lips and caused cracked lips with some bleeding. I used up one full sized eye liner and three deluxe sized samples. The Urban Decay dried out before I could use the whole thing. I depotted two color correctors and three eye shadows. I would never use the green or the orange correctors. The black, dark purple, and dark blue eye shadows are ones that I never wold have touched with my hooded eyes. I decluttered the purple glitter, because who am I kidding?! I am also decluttering the Sally Hansen leg makeup, because it looks orange and rubs off of my skin. 84/200

IMG_4206

Another 5 rounded up! I finished a full sized toner, eye serum, and eye cream. I finished up two deluxe sizes of eye cream and baby wash. I would repurchase the toner, but I can go without everything else seen here. 89/200

IMG_4207

7 products to add to my list. I didn’t see this bubble bath, so I didn’t repurchase. I would repurchase it though. I bought the Equate knock off of the little Aveeno baby tubs, but I think I prefer the $3 tubs. I do not think that they are created equal. The deodorant was really nice and I would repurchase it again at Marshalls. The Degree spray I would not repurchase. Another sunscreen. Might have a few more sunscreen empties by the end of summer and next year we will need to buy all new ones! 96/200

IMG_4077

I wanted to show you all Dean’s smile, because I love it! ❤ 96/200 is a really great way to catch up. I am 48% done with this challenge. I am so close to being half way down that I am smiling ear to ear. I really want to make it and have really put in the effort in July. I laxed in August, which you will see. So, I need to really step it up in September to make up for it by using up more of my stuff. I need to finish at least 10.4% of the challenge every month in order to complete it by the end of the year. So that would be like 20 products a month. I know that I won’t make it for August, but I will try to have an epic September like this month was. At this point, I don’t think that I will make it, but I am still going to have fun trying.

Marshalls Haul

I am super excited to bring you a very small and modest Marshalls Haul. I needed a refill on some pretty notebooks and I told myself that I could spend $20 ($10 for each class) as a treat. I am pretty sure that I got As in both of my classes. I am just waiting for the results of the finals to come out and I’ll have my transcript grades ready. I couldn’t believe what I found for $20. I got to buy two seriously expensive items that would have equaled $63 at Sephora. I am happy to only pay 1/3 of the price for both of these products. I haven’t done a haul in forever! I have been really good at using what I have and not buying anything I already have. I decided to replace my skincare with ELF products. ELF has been killing it lately and there is free shipping with a $25 order. If I can find what I need at Marshalls for less than ELF price, I will get it. Otherwise, I’ll be placing an order at ELF. Let’s get into the haul!

IMG_4309

I got this adorable book for Dean for $2.99. The book is originally marked at $9.99, which is insane! Dean sometimes literally eats books, so $3 is an easy buy for me and it’s no skin off my teeth if its ruined in a week. He loves to flip through the book and the poor spine can only take so many flip throughs. I am so happy to have such a great boy who loves to “read”. He takes after his mother for sure. This is a cute Easter book with tons of pages, so it is a lot of bang for your 3 bucks. Dean and I also bought my dad a soap that he promptly opened and complained about no scrubby pieces. LOL. I had to tell him all the benefits of Turmeric and he’s on-board with it now.

I got a two pack of notebooks for $4.99 for my next semester. They are super cute and I needed something bigger than last time. I couldn’t find any Kate Spade, but these have the same theme and I am really loving it. $2.49 isn’t a bad price for a quality notebook and I love the thickness of these pages. It beats buying a $1.50 notebook from Walmart where my PaperMate InkJoy Gel Pens bleed through the page. One of my notebooks from last semester still has a few pages left in it, so I’m using that for reviews.

Yes, I got the $25 Anastasia Stick Foundation in Fawn (a contour shade) for $9.99! I am super excited about this find! It wasn’t swatched and in pristine condition. The box wasn’t even opened! I didn’t realize it was a contour shade, but as you can see it disappears into nothing on me. I can for sure pull it off as a light foundation. The packaging is so heavy and luxe. I am in love and I plan on using this as an all over base. Maybe contour on the days that I can building it up. I also plan to use this to cover up spots. The color looked scary swatched, but like the tab on the outside of the package, it blended into my skin flawlessly. It is definitely matte and I am interested to see how long this lasts on me.

Hell yeah! I got a $38 Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Creme in Prosecco Pop for $9.99, the same as the foundation stick. This highlighter is PERFECTION and I love the golden sheen on my cheekbones. The dark spot on it isn’t from being swatched. It is from the thin plastic protector, but some of the highlighter came off on it. I’m going to use up the product on the protector sheet before swirling this around. There is no hard pan on this and no spray over. The protector just lifted up a deep layer of product, you get to see the deep base to this highlight. It still works for me though. It isn’t too deep. My Marshalls also had Rose Gold, but I thought that it would be too deep for my complexion compared to this taupe/gold highlight. Two of the bottom photos are with flash to really captured the golden sheen, otherwise it looks very taupe/pinky/yellow to me.

Well, that is my haul! I am going to enjoy my treats now. I know that I will be using the contour stick every day and comparing it to two other creams from Smashbox that I own. One cream is too orange and the other cream might be too brown. So, I might be decluttering both of them. I also have three Smashbox cream highlights that seem to be just glitter eye gloss. I think I will keep them for my eyes, but I don’t enjoy them as highlights with that slippery feel to them that never dries down. I hope you enjoyed what I picked up. There will be another mini haul in November and probably some Black Friday hauls as well.

Selena

July Empties

My camera is still being a pain, but I will be buying a new one really soon. Please bare with me. I was able to take pictures in a dim corner with the flash on. I cannot wait for my new Kodak camera, but I am looking at reviews first to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the product first. I’m just surprised that a $200 camera that was 50% off wouldn’t last more than two years. Seems very strange to me. Anyway, I went through a lot of product in July, but so far August has been a bust. So, I guess it will even out seeing as I have a whole basket of empties here. I am excited to see just how many I have and what will count towards me empties goal of the year.

There you have it folks! I had 30 empties for the month of July! That even amazes me. lol. I didn’t think I had nearly as much as I did. Since I am already halfway through August, I cannot count my goals towards this month. So, I will talk about September’s goals. I would like to use up a few more makeup products. I have a bunch of primers on their last legs and I want to use them up. I also have two lip products that could be used up as well. I want to use up a lotion, a hair product, and a skin care one as well. I think these are modest goals for September. Most of my stuff rain out in July and I opened new things. Probably will explain why August will be so light.

5 OUT: August

I found some old reviews in a notebook that I was writing, so I thought that I would combine 5 here again for the month of August. I have another one for September in the works and if I have time, one of the months may have a bonus one as well. It takes me a long time to use up a product, because I am usually switching between a few products. I love testing out new stuff and I hardly have any old, true products that I still love now. The things that I fall in love with have a tendency of being discontinued or reformulated. Brands should stop it when they have such a good thing going. I used to love the Garnier Aqua Surge and now it is named something totally different and doesn’t hold a candle to the kind of moisture that it used to give my skin.

Lush Razzel Dazzle Solid Bath Oil

I love the lovely dusty pink bath water with a hint of shimmer on the surface. It is a very oily, very moisturizing solid bath oil. It was too oily for me, so I let my dad have the other half. We both loved the fruity scent and my dad was very impressed in how moisturized his dry skin felt after the bath. He didn’t care for the pink or shimmer. He wasn’t glittery or shimmery after the bath, but his skin was a bit “pink”. I would say it can slightly stain your skin. I would buy a less girly bath oil for my dad, but I wouldn’t repurchase this again. I have the golden egg, which is half bath bomb and half bath melt. Is that the same as a bath oil?

Softsoap Body Scrub Coconut Butter

My dad loves this body wash, because it moisturizes and has a good grit to it. I have used this a handful of times and I like it. I like Tree Hut better though and it is a cruelty free option. Hopefully, stores around me start to carry the Tree Hut again. This has been a repurchase by my dad and I can usually find him a coupon for it.

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30

I love the smell of these sunscreens and they are cruelty free. I will be repurchasing. This one sinks in quickly and I love smelling like coconuts. I would repurchase the spray for Dean in the high SPF. I would like to see different scents or something. I would buy the face SPF, but I am still working on a Clinique one. It is great to know that they are cruelty free, because I don’t know if I would live without this brand. It is a summer staple. It is nonirritating and very effortless to rub in. No white cast and sinks in fast.

B&BW Slatkin & Co Tree Room Spray

This is a very concentrated room spray that lasted many years! I only used it during the holidays, but I would love to get more of them. They are great in the bathroom and for freshening up a house that hasn’t had a chance to be aired out during the Winter. I would buy them on sale again. I believe that I bought one and got the other one free or half off. Either way, it was a great deal. It quickly fills the room and is very long lasting. More so than a candle. Don’t spray too much or it will quickly become overpowering and nauseating. Less is more with this one.

Lipton Green Tea Acai Dragonfruit Melon

I have to say this one wasn’t my favorite, but I do prefer it cold with ice rather than hot. When it is cold, all of the flavors blend better and the iciness of the melon goes with a cold drink. When I have it hot, I find the cooling melon flavor to be weird and not taste right. I do enjoy green teas and I do recommend Lipton as a brand. I want to try more flavors of tea, so if you have any that you recommend, please let me know. I’m not a tea snob, I try anything as long as the name of the flavor isn’t too out there.

Those are my 5 highlighted reviews. I have another five coming right at you either at the end of this month or in September. The reviews are almost done and then, I’ll get on my next batch of reviews. I am always behind on my reviews, but my life is so busy right now and very hectic. The semester is almost over and then, I get a week break before the madness begins all over again.

Selena

Project Polish: July

I am so horrible! I never got acetone the whole entire month! Now, I have bought it so there is literally no excuses not to do my nails. I am painting my toe nails as I type this and my nails will be done tomorrow night as tonight I am taking a shower. If I paint my nails at 7:30, then by the time I go to bed at 10, it should have enough time to set. I have four colors still picked out though that I want to try. I will let you know which ones I declutter as I go through all of my polishes.

On a different note, my camera is totally acting up. It had finger prints on the lens. So, I took a wipes and cleaned it. Now, it is developing photos on high brightness and I don’t know how to fix it. There isn’t even a setting for that! I did a little research and found out that the Canon Powershots are notorious for dying prematurely, because of the sensors that they bought from a third party. So, I have a wonky camera and none of my photos of my empties are coming out right. I’m going to be playing around with it, but I don’t have a $100 to drop on a camera. I love taking pictures of Dean so this is a real bummer. I’m going to try charging the battery up and giving it a break for today. So, I can’t really upload my empties with photos or anything.

Not sure what I am going to do, but some posts will not show up until the end of the month or I might have to combine two months of empties together…..

Selena

Makeup Monthly: July

I kept my makeup the same as last month’s. I am really enjoying these products, so I decided to keep them around for another month. I have been focusing on using up the PIXI blush and I think that I will keep that in my makeup bag for the rest of the year. I have been working hard on the perfume and have made a huge dent in it. I have been really lax in the lip products, so I am hoping to get more out of them for the month of July. This includes the eye gloss as well. I’d like to use it in July during my work from home week. The palette is beautiful! I think next year, I am going to be focusing on panning it and I just mean hitting pan in every shade. I am resuming my project pan in 2019. I will be doing 19 in 2019. These three will be in that project! I am super excited and I continue to use and love these products in July.
