Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2017

This is my first season getting the Walmart Beauty Box, which is a quarterly subscription for $5 a box or $20 a year. You are only paying for shipping and nothing for the actual products inside. Let’s face it though. Companies give out samples for free, why do we pay for them? I’m glad that with Walmart I am only paying shipping and everything in this season’s box is worth the money that I paid. I didn’t get any makeup samples, which I am not mad at. I actually like getting more of the other stuff like skin care and hair care more than makeup. Please tell me that I’m not the only one?

The theme of this season’s box is Trendsetter, which looking at the items in the box, I don’t get it. Are these that popular or unique of items? I’m still happy with it and the box is really sturdy. I’m going to reuse it for something. I’m not going to throw it out. I just don’t get the theme of the box.

The paper is so pretty! I want to do something with it. I am saving that for sure. Also, today is my 25th birthday, so this is like a little birthday treat to me. ūüôā

Dove Advanced Care Cool Essentials 48H Deodorant

deodorant

I have used this before and I really like it. I’m trying to use more natural deodorants, but I’m not going to waste this. I will use it, especially since my degree Woman’s spray irritates my underarms if I use it every day. I’ve been putting down my Lush powder deodorant first and then spraying the Degree on top. I like to put my natural deodorant underneath my remaining aluminium deodorants. This little guy goes for $1.02.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Luminous Hydration Facial Oil

I have tried the original version of this dry oil and I remember loving it. It was around $20 for 1 fl oz, which is cheaper than the more luxury oils on the market. I feel like it moisturized my skin well. I’m curious to see what is the difference with the luminous version. You only need about three drops of oil to cover your whole face or at least mine. I can see this lasting a week or two. I’m going to use a baby syringe I have lying around to drop it onto my face. Approximate value is $0.33.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Facial Moisturizer

IMG_1997

I haven’t tried their moisturizer, so this will be a nice sample to try out. I feel like you can get a few days out of this packet if you used it night and day. I think I’ll get a week of nightly use. Approximate value is $0.90.

Colgate Optic White Radiant Toothpaste

toothpaste

I am really excited to try this toothpaste. I have been seeing it all over Youtube and I heard that it’s a really great whitening toothpaste. I have a toothpaste mini that I am currently working on, but when that one is done, I will take this one out on a test drive to see if it is worth the money. I don’t like to spend a ton on toothpaste, so if I like it, I’ll wait for a coupon to go with it before I buy it. I’m sad there is no coupon and just an insert. Approximate value $1.74

Biore Baking Soda Acne Scrub

Face

I’m weary of these gimmicky products from Biore. The charcoal one wasn’t very good. I hope this one is better. I will use it in my shower once I have finished my Kate Summerville¬†scrub. I like to use scrubs in my shower, since they can be a bit messy at the sink. I look forward to trying this one out and it is a decent size. Approximate value $1.47

John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Moisturizing Conditioner

conditioner

I love the John Frieda Frizz Ease line, especially the serum. Once I finish off my current conditioner, I will be using this guy up. I like usually like my shampoo and conditioner to match, but I have a couple of shampoos with no matching conditioner. Usually, I run out of the shampoo before the conditioner. LOL. I think I also accidentally bought two shampoos one time instead of a matching set. Opps! Approximate value $0.97

Schwarzkopf Gliss Ultra Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

I enjoy a matching set, so I am glad that I have this to try out when I am out of my shampoo and conditioner and want a mini but not a foil packet. I am so lazy when it comes to foil packets. Anyways, I’ve never tried this brand, but I’m not too picky when it comes to my hair. As long as the shampoo lathers and the conditioner doesn’t weigh my hair down, I will repurchase. I don’t ask for very much. Approximate value $1.37 for both

Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

sample

This is just a little foil packet, so it will go rather quickly. I’m guessing at 2 to 3 uses. Hopefully, it is a decent color match. Approximate value $0.25.

Totaling up this box, it was worth $8.05, which is $3.05 more than what I paid for it. I think usually Walmart boxes are at least $5 to $10 every season. This season seems to be on the higher side and I will use everything that was sent. That is not always the case with every box, but this one scored very well for me. I would give it 3 stars, because nothing really wowed me but I will use everything that I got.

The Best Deodorant

For Dove Dry Spray 48 Hr Antiperspirant in Cool Essentials

Dove

What it is:

An antiperspirant that feels instantly dry with a quarter moisturizers to care for underarm skin.

Key Ingredients:

Fragrance, sunflower seed oil, propane

How it feels/smells/looks:

It has a heavily perfumed cucumber scent. DO NOT OPEN MOUTH OR INHALE WHILE SPRAYING. It is a clear spray that can clump and turn white if you have even a tinsy bit of stubble going on under there. It feels slightly slick after spraying.

Why I like it:

This was great and all I needed during my ¬†pregnancy to stay sweat free. I always had sweaty arm pit problems, but this took it totally away. I even sweated less when I had it on. I will repurchase this when I am done nursing. I had to switch to a heavy duty men’s spray sport deodorant to get rid of my nursing stink and I still have to reapply in the middle of the day to stay that way. My hormones make me extra stinky, so my baby can be comforted by my scent. It doesn’t mean I want everyone to smell me at work. Lol. That being said, I love this deodorant and it really works well.

Mini Mall Haul

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I just realized that my post for yesterday did not upload, so I have already uploaded it. Hence, why there is two posts today. Yesterday, I went shopping with my best friend and we went to the mall. She also gave me a few goodies and I gave her some as well. We also ate at Panera Bread. It was my first time eating there and it won’t be my last. Seriously considering reviewing restaurants that I’ve been to now. lol. Any who, this is everything that is new in my life since yesterday.

From Dani:

Opi

OPI Nicole Roughles in Rock The Look, 15 ml

I have already used this and I love it. It is in tomorrow’s Manicure Monday post.

Sally Hansen

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in 700 Cotton Candies, 11.8 ml

I am looking forward to using this in the next coming weeks depending upon how long my current mani lasts. I want to see how this one looks compared to the one above.

cream bath

Simple Beauty Angelic Pink Luxurious Cream Bath, 3.4 fl oz

Dani knows how much I love my baths. I take one almost everyday to relax. It is part of my night time routine. This one smells nice, similar to Avon’s Sweet Honesty with more of a baby powder scent. I will enjoy using this as a bubble bath, when I run out of what I am currently using. If you are wondering, it is a foaming bath oil.

bath fizz

Bath Fizzer

I figured that this is good for two uses. It is something nice to add to your bath, when you don’t want to be covered in bubbles. I’m hoping it is moisturizes or does something. The packaging does not say much, but it is pink and glittery!

stickersstickers

Stickers

I don’t know why the package says glitter, because they actually do not contain any glitter. They are more metallic than glittery. I cannot wait to use this in next week’s spread. I am working on it Monday, so you won’t see the last few weeks of my planner planning, until Saturday or Sunday. No sneaky peeks from me! These will make the grey and purple accents really pop against all the color.

Target:

babybaby

This cute little number has dinosaurs on it, perfect for the growing little boy inside of me. It was only 1.50 USD, which is money well spent.

Marshall’s:

babybaby

I found this at a great discount! It was originally 25 USD and I got it for 3 USD. These are cute for a little boy and I want to have at least 8 onseies like these for him to wear everyday. I currently have 5, so I have at least three more to buy for now. In a few months, that will be a different story. I’ve been buying 0-3 and 3-6 months though for some variety in sizes.

Claire’s:

brushbrushbrush

Claire’s Flat Kabuki, 6.50 USD (6.91 with tax)

I have really wanted a buffing brush for a while for my foundation. Every kabuki that I looked at was either short or too small. This one at Claire’s is a great size for a great price. I am hoping that it performs nice. It feels dense and doesn’t seem like it would shed. Only trying it will tell.

Sephora:

tinted moisturizertinted moisturizerswatchblended swatch

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude, 1 fl oz for 21 USD (22.31 with tax)

This blended in beautifully when I swatched it. It is the perfect color for my complexion and it is the fourth darkest color in the line. It surprises me that I take such a dark color, because I’m usually the first one or two in a line. This is a bit yellow toned, which goes with my natural yellow undertone. It should cancel out my ruddy cheeks from pregnancy. I’ve heard a lot about this brand, so hopefully it lives up to the hype.

eye cream

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-enriched Renewal Cream, 0.5 oz (100 point perk)

I will be using this as an eye cream. I really wanted to try some more from the Origins line, so this was really nice to try. I feel like my eyes can most benefit from this cream. If I like it, I will try the orange line for energizing tired eyes/skin.

sample

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser (sample)

The employee included a small sample of a cleanser from Fresh. I already know that I love their soaps, so it is just natural that I will probably love everything else that they make, too.

Walmart:

Dove

Dove Dry Spray Deodorant in Cooling Cucumber

I needed a new deodorant and knew that I wanted to try this one. I really like it so far, but it isn’t “dry” it definetly adds some moisture to your pits. I air dry mine for 2 to 5 minutes. I usually use that time to wash my face and put on socks.

acne wash

Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub

I needed something for the heat rash on my back and I remembered loving this in high school for the same reason. Pregnancy has made me rashy again and they can turn into big, angry pimples. This has reduced the intensity of my rash and with time, I think it will make it almost disappear. I don’t think it will totally work, because again, hormones. Have you guys hauled anything lately?

The Final Verdict: Dove

For Dove Advanced Care Nutrium Moisture Sensitive 48H Antiperspirant Deodorant

Dove Sensitive

What it is: A deodorant that treats and blocks sweat for 48 hours, while also providing a great layer of moisture for your neglected underarm area.

Key Ingredients: There are a couple of ingredients that do not fit with this deodorant. Stearyl Alcohol is actually very drying, so it is not very moisturizing for the underarms. Also, added fragrance to a sensitive formula deodorant just seems counterproductive. I just do not understand why a company would add fragrance to a sensitive formula.

How it feels/smells/looks: The deodorant glides on smoothly, but had a tendency of balling up on itself in my armpit. It does not smell like anything, which is nice. I do not like my deodorants to have scents, since I layer a scent on top of it. It is a solid white deodorant.

Why I like it: I liked the fact that it is scentless and has zero drying time. I also liked that the deodorant was very soothing to my skin and did not burn, when I applied it to my underarms after shaving and having a little razor burn. There are a few things that I did not like about it as well. I did not like that the deodorant balled up on itself, because I do not think that it worked as well this way. I did not care for the white stains/residue that it left on my shirts. I do not feel that it blocked 100% of the odor. I feel like it worked 85 to 80%. I hate feeling like I have body odor and my current routine blocks 100%. I will be sharing my secret soon, do not worry. By the way, that was a cryptic hint. Anyway, that is all there is to say about this deodorant. I still cannot believe that I could talk so much about deodorant.

June Favorites

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Another month has came and went. Sorry about being so late on my June favorites, but I have been really busy with work and haven’t had much time to type up my favorites post. I have some time now though, so I thought that I would get it started even if it doesn’t get uploaded until later tonight. I hope everyone is having a great Fourth of July Weekend, whether you are going away or staying home. If you are like me, your only day off is Sunday, so you better enjoy it! Lol. It is the fifth day of #Julamorous! I liked fewer things this month, but still a lot of things. I have a lot of things, so really that is to be expected. So without further ado, I am going to just jump into it.

BODY FAVS:

Body Lotion

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom Body Lotion

I have been loving this as a nice neck/decolletage lotion to go with my matching fragrance. This was a nice light liquidy lotion for hot and humid June. I like that the lotion wasn’t heavy and it soaked right into my skin. I love the nice light, floral scent. It really helped my perfume last longer and it delivered a more layered scent. I am definitely a convert of buying my fragerances with the matching lotions. I just think that the scent pay off is so much better when paired together. I also think that if you used any lotion, it would do the same thing. Of course, a different lotion wouldn’t have the same scent, so it would be slightly different. I think that I used up a third of the tube this month.

Dove Sensitive

Dove Advanced Care Sensitive 48h Antiperspirant Deodorant

I have been really loving this deodorant since I bought it at the end of May. Since I have been using it, it has made my armpits softer and less irritated during/after shaving. It is like not sensitive at all anymore. Plus, I do not nick myself anymore, which helps a lot. This glides on nice and smooth and it doesn’t have much of a scent. I personally layer my deodorant, because I really sweat at the slightest temperature fluctuation. This is a great base application. I would try other types in this line. I think the next one that I would try would be the skin lightening one, because the skin under my armpits are looking a little…tan. I really like this deodorant, though and I have never really had a solid favorite before.

Secret Body Spray

Secret Re-Fresh Brazil Rainforest Mist Body Spray

This is a light deodorant spray that I have been loving over my Dove deodorant for the fresh scent alone. I think it does a better job at covering up odor and just making me feel fresher when it has been yucky out, aka sweltering. It does not smell like a rain forest unfortunately, but it does smell like the great outdoors. There are a few other scents, which I would be willing to try. This has been a lot better than using perfumed body spray, because they do not have that slight deodorant quality. I think that regular body spray just doesn’t cut it, when compared to something that powders down to have that odor soaking technology. For the summertime, it was really worth the investment, plus I had a coupon.

BATH FAV:

the comforter

Lush The Comforter Solid Bubble Bar

This delivers the best bubbles ever!!! It turned my water the prettiest color of pale, petal pink. It was pure perfection. The bubbles were frothy and lavish. They lasted until I had to get out of the tub and I was sad to see the bubbles and pink water drain away. I was in there for an hour though, so it really had to go. I only used an eighth of the bar. So this will give you a good eight baths. I’m going to use less next time, because I hate wasting bubbles. ūüė¶ The scent was amazing, like I was bathing in cotton candy and yummy black currant. This is a total princess product and I will be repurchasing this. I will be taking pics the next time that I use this, because I want to share the beauty.

SHOWER FAV:

shower jelly

Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly

The scent matches The Comforter and it is such fun to use. I use my exfoliating gloves and rub this between my hands to get a bit of lather. This jelly will last a long time, using it this way. I want to try it chilled from the freezer as well. I don’t own a loofah, so I cannot try it that way. I do not think that this is a really foamy product. It is more of a creamy consistency, which is fine with me since it is more moisturizing that way. It is fun to play with it the shower and is really a novelty product that you have to try at least once. I’m not sure that I would buy this again, but it is worth buying just to play with it.

FRAGRANCE FAV:

Perfume spray

DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom Eau De Parfum Spray

This is the prettiest scent of perfume that I own. It is lightly fruity and very floral. I would call it a very girly perfume. I love that the perfume is pink and that it is in the shape of an apple, which is super cute! I have had this in my collection for almost a year, but I just really used it so much in June. I’m a finicky person and I like to change my perfume as often as my hairstyle. So, sticking with any perfume a month long is a major feat for me. I never get pulled in by cute packaging. I¬†have¬†to love the scent for the packaging to even gain any traction in my mind. The perfume is also very light and crisp with a hint of grapefruit.

SKINCARE FAV:

blue and white scrub

Lush Ocean Salt Face & Body Scrub

Let me start off my saying that I only use this on my face and not on my body. Using this product on my body would be very wasteful, because this does so much for the acne on my face and I just need a dab to get a good scrub. This is really perfect for oily, acne prone skin. It helps me to get over my breakouts faster and keeps my skin clearer for a longer period of time. If I skip this nightly treatment, my skin definitely suffers. I do not know how I ever got along without this product. It has been a miracle worker, since for some reason my skin has decided to breakout really bad for no reason recently. I will elaborate more in my upcoming skin care routines. I have decided to make my skincare routines a season series, where I update it every time we go into a new season. My skincare changes all of the time, so this should be interesting for you guys. The short of it is, I am in love with this face scrub and it has inspired me to give Lush another try with skincare products. (I wasn’t a big fan of the aqua marina expiration tag.)

MAKEUP FAV:

Butter glossEclair

NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair (BLG02)

I have been wearing this nonstop, since I received this in my Ipsy bag in June. It is the perfect petal pink that is more preferable to me than a nude. I still like that it is a flush pink and glides on smoothly. It really does feel like butter on your lips…in a good way. It keeps my lips moisturized without all the stickiness. I wouldn’t be surprised if I ran out of it soon. This does not leave a stain, which is the only thing that would make this product even better in my opinion. I love how inexpensive this brand is and that I can actually go out and buy this gloss before I run out. I will be picking more of these up in August or September at my local Sephora.

MUSIC FAV:

lea-michele-louder-2014-1200x1200

On My Way by Lea Michelle

Dani has got me addicted to this song and now, I want to get her album. That is how much I love her now. I never used to like her on Glee, but this album has a totally different vibe that I am liking. So, thank you very much!

So, that is it for my favorites. What was yours?

With Love,

Selena Hannah
