Lush Roots Hair Treatment

hair care

Ah, I love the scent of this! It is so minty and mentholy. It is just the perfect scent. It did not give my hair volume like it claims. It left my scalp feeling amazing and my hair was less oily at the roots. This pot lasted me forever and was well worth the price that I paid for it. Unfortunately, this contains sulfates and I cannot repurchase it. It will strip my grey hair of its color. If you don’t color your hair, I highly recommend this.

Gliss Ultra Moisture Poo & Conditish

I love the scent of these products and how soft it left my hair. If it is cruelty free, I would purchase this set again or one for blondes/silvers. The shampoo suds up like a dream and the conditioner is really thin and watery. It is great for fine hair. I got about 6 uses out of these little sample bottles, maybe 8 for the conditioner. I recommend them for thin hair, but not if you have dry hair. You would need more moisture than what this gives.

Sally’s Haul & Hair Update

I just realized that I totally could have put two of these items in my empties, because I used them up. Being coloring boxes, I put the used tubes in there and throw the whole box out. Hence why I didn’t save them. Oh well! I made my first order on Sally’s website and spend $27 on my hair stuff. I also had a 5 dollar coupon, so I treated myself to some no heat hair rollers that I have yet to try. I will be doing that soon though, don’t ch’you worry and I’ll document the before and after on here as well. So, for the hair update part. I thought that I would share with you what my hair looked life before and after each step with the stuff that I purchased.

Before:

As you can tell, all of the silver rinsed out of my hair and it was left with a yellow and slightly ashy tone with white pieces. I needed a toner really bad to get my hair down to a more ashy, grey tone. Grey needs to be ashy or white. Over yellow, the hair can appear green. I remembered hearing about Wella so much on Youtube, so I purchased that.

Wella Color Charm T18: Lightest Ash Blonde

hair

A little too late, I realized that the 050 would have been better for my hair needs, but this one did a great job at getting my hair to that nice white ashy base. I needed a developer to go with it so I bought a 10 volume, which is for depositing color only, no lift. After bleaching my hair twice at the salon, I did not need anymore lift.

Clairol Pure White 10 Volume Developer

hair

This bottle is huge and will last quite a while. I used a half a cup of developer per one bottle (1/4 cup) of Wella T18. The mixture was white but started turning blue on my head. It took me about 10 minutes to apply it and I let it sit on my hair for another 20 minutes before rinsing it out.

I had white ashier hair. My hair where it was bleached twice, because it is stuborn is still more blonde than the rest of it. It is still a level 8 or 9, so it is a pretty light blonde. The rest of it that is white is a level 10, the perfect blonde for grey hair. I bought the color Chrome from Ion for my grey color.

Ion Color Brilliance Demi 7VA Chrome

hair

Again, I used one whole tube of color to about a cup of developer. You always want to use double the developer to color, a 2:1 ratio. I also didn’t want it going dark, because I didn’t see many reviews on this color. All of the videos on Youtube (2), it didn’t look good on the person and I was looking for a purple smoky more true grey color. Well….I got it.

It is so multidimensional! In the light, it is a gorgeous light, true grey and in the shade it is a cool grey with purply tones to it. I absolutely LOVE my grey hair now. It is exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier. BTW, this is after 2 shampoos! It didn’t rinse out. I put the color on for 40 minutes with a shower cap. I am hoping that it lasts at least a month, so I don’t have to do it more often than that. Coloring is still damaging. I feel more like me now. For once, I love my hair. It matches my eyes PERFECTLY. It feels authentic. I found a me color that I am going to be sporting for a very long time.

April Empties

Another month checked of of my calendar and we are officially in my birthday month. I am super excited to be getting my birthday treats and having a great second Mother’s day. I cannot wait for the day that Dean makes me Mother’s Day gifts from school. Speaking of school, that will be a big topic for me next year in regards to Dean. I was discussing it with his EI Speech therapist and I realized that he won’t be in mainstream classes. Since Dean is nonverbal, he will have different goals than the other kids and after kindergarten, will be separated and put in the “special” classroom with the other children that have autism, down syndrome, and mental handicaps. Part of me is glad that he won’t be made fun of and the other part of me is sad that he’ll be segregated from neurotypicals. I have very mixed and raw feelings about this right now.

That is it you guys. Really small empties post this last month. I am hoping that May will be a bigger month, because it is my birthday month. If I am going to be using some stuff and pampering, this will be the month for it. I am hoping to finish off a face powder and a lip gloss this month. Anything else will be a nice bonus, because I am not focusing on anything. I am just enjoying the stuff that I have and using it up will just follow naturally. I don’t want to use stuff up for the sake of using stuff up, you know?

Bought Recently

I wanted to show you what I have picked up lately. It is not real exciting stuff, but just stuff that I needed to restock on. I promise that I don’t usually buy a ton of stuff. It just seems that way from all of the posts that I have been putting off making of stuff that I have purchased months ago. Like still in their boxes stuff that I haven’t touched, because I am all like I am going to haul that stuff. I don’t feel like I should touch it to remind myself to write the post. LOL. Also, usually it takes me months to put together a post like this, because I don’t buy for myself very often. I just don’t have the money to.

Crest 3D White LUXE Diamond Strong Toothpaste

toothpaste

I needed a new toothpaste and this one is a well known brightener and strengthen the enamel on your teeth. I do notice that my teeth are whiter, but I would need the whitening strips to get a really white smile. I might get the smallest white strips kit, because I just want to boost my smile. This toothpaste is great though and I really enjoy it. I would not actively repurchase this. I only bought it, because Tom’s was out of stock. Crest is not bunny approved, which is why I only bought it when my other option was out of stock. Hopefully, they are in stock next time I need toothpaste.

L’Oreal Colorista in Pink

This is a semi permanent hair color that washes out within a dozen shampoos. I used it on my brassy blonde ends and it looked more burnt red than pink. When I get bored of my grey, I will use it on my non-brassy white blonde hair to give it a proper review.

Alba Botanica Acne Dote Toner

toner

I really enjoy this toner and it is cruelty free. I am going to see what else my Marshall has today on my day off. I am also stopping at Sephora for my birthday gift. I would rebuy this toner for the $5 that I spent on it. I need to see if they have anything with less alcohol in it though. I don’t find this too drying on my oil skin but my skin has been less oily more combination lately.

Thermos Thermocafe

IMG_3583

I needed a good thermos for bringing my coffee to work or the shakes that I make at home. It is also great for holding smoothies as well. I just needed something for when I want to do the extra effort.

Not Your Mother’s Blonde Moment Treatment Shampoo

IMG_3724

So, I already shared with you that I accidentally got the conditioner instead of the shampoo. Now, I finally have the shampoo and I do like it. I use it every time I wash my hair which is once to twice a week. I do my Shimmer Lights treatment once a week where I leave it on for 30 minutes to maintain my non brassy hair. I do like this cruelty free brand and will repurchase this set in the future. I also want to get the leave in spray in this line once I run out of some leave in conditioner that I am already using.

That is it for this little recap haul. As you can see, most of these things I can write little review on them, I have had them for so long. I am using Dean’s nap to my advantage by writing on my blog. I don’t like to take time away from him when he is awake. One of the many reasons why I am so happy he naps in his own bed now and not with me. I love it when he takes a nap with me when I have a migraine. Nothing like a little warm body next to you to make you feel better.

Miscellaneous Collection 2018

This is for my pile of random stuff and samples. I also threw in some things that weren’t big enough to have their own category. I still have a bunch of makeup categories to go through after this and then, I won’t worry about this until next year. It has become such a big thing for me that I am not going to go through this again in a few months. Once a year should be plenty enough for a makeup collection.

IMG_3456

I have an ear wash solution here to soothe my earlobes after I wear earrings and my foot soak for the rare foot bath. I’d like to get through the foot soak this hear. I also have a plastic thingy for when I Nair my legs. I am actually a fan of shaving now. Funny thing.

sunscreen

I have my little collection of still good sunscreen to use up this year. The Supergoop! is almost used up and after that, I will use the Clinique on my face. I need separate facial sunscreen or else I get really bad breakouts from using just any sunscreen on my face. I need to buy some sunscreen for my son. I like him to have a really high SPF spray. The other two bottles, I use on my body during the summer. I only use SPF if I am going out in the sun. If it is a day at the office, I don’t apply sunscreen.

conditioner

My dad uses black hair dye over his grey and white hairs. I use his conditioner packets for shaving cream. I have a back stock of these, because I don’t shave as often in the Winter. It is finally getting warmer out, so I’ll be needing to shave twice a week to wear skirts and dresses. I cannot wait for the pool to be ready! I need a good tan right now.

IMG_3495

My collection of sample sized perfumes. I want to be done with them all by the end of the year. I am so glad I quite my Sephora subscription, even if the bags seem to be better after I left. I would rather spend $120 on makeup that I want. Speaking of which, I will have a Sephora Wishlist up sometime in May. I want so much; hence the wish list.

More samples from online orders and some that my friend Danielle gave me. I want to use all of these up this year as well. I am pretty sure that I can do it as long as I remember to. I love trying out samples and new things. I just have to remember to use them. I usually keep a sample in my beauty cabinet now for when I feel like using them. It has gotten me to use them more, so the new spot is working.

IMG_3503

My last pile of samples in my sample storage bag. I have already gotten through some of these and I plan to go through everything this year. I have a big project pan going on and I am going to go through as much samples and deluxe products that I can towards me 200 goal. Although most of the samples don’t count, face masks and the bigger foil packets will as long as it has 0.5 fl ounces. I actually even forgot that I had a few of these things, so I am happy to be reminded.

That is all of my random crap that I wanted to show you, because I want to use most of this stuff up this year. I hope you enjoyed this post and me blogging almost every day. I have been enjoying my blogging time and I am sure that I will find time to post at least twice a week when college is in session.

Grey Hair, Don’t Care

The story of my hair goes like this…I have never been happy with my hair. In my youth, I was too blonde and too curly. Then, my hair was too long, too short. Too brown. I added highlights at age 10 to be blonder. Then, layers to my hair for movement. Senior year, I did a really bad ash blonde hair dye. That sparked my dying journey. I then added purple extensions. I dyed my hair little mermaid red. I dyed my hair brown, black. I added bleached chunks underneath that I did myself. I dip died my blonde hair purple. I had my hair bleached and it ended up too brassy, but I didn’t know about silver shampoo then.

My current hair: Last Saturday, I went to the salon for 8 am. My stylist Charlie Cook from 126 Post Salon in Worcester MA (He requested a plug in. 🙂 He has never done the grey hair before, but two other girls at the salon had and added their two cents in. My guy has been doing it for years, so I’m sure he knew everything that they were telling him already. So, he applied the bleach to my hair and did my dad’s haircut and wash and blow dry. Then, he checked my hair and did my son’s hair cut. I had my hair rinsed out and blow dried. I had bleach put on a second time for a shorter period of time a few inches from my roots to a bit past my ears where the hair was still orange. That part was still brassy after the bleach rinsed out. I guess that is the darkest part of my hair.

I had the Pravana silver color and developer (just a clear add in) mixed and put in my hair for about 5 minutes. I wish it would have been left on a bit longer for a stronger silver hue. He then rinsed out my hair and I had a final blow dry. I had $150, which I think is a really hair price. Each bleach was $50 and the toner/color was $20. He ended up with a $30 tip, which I thought was very good. It came out a bit blue, which I wanted a more lead pencil grey tone. More due to the dye than anything my stylist did. I have only washed my hair once since then and the blue tone came out. In sunlight, my hair is a very pretty light silver, grey. In my bathroom lightening, it looks more ash blonde and a little gold. My hair has very strong gold undertones. A little blonde is peeking through, but I think with leaving a toner on longer, it will coat it grey.

I’m going to try the Wella grey toner in three weeks, since I want to keep up the grey color and not look white/ash blonde. So, I will be sharing before and after with the toner. Here is the final look though!!!! I love it!

As you can see, when the light hits it, it can appear a bit more blonde. It is actually very grey if you can tell by the photos. It is hard with indoor lighting to show the grey hue. It looked more grey away from the light. At work under the florescent, my whole head looks light like the far right picture. I feel like grey is a hard color to take a picture of. My camera kept on auto fixing the tone of my hair. It matches my grey eyes perfectly!
