The Ordinary Haul

Here is my The Ordinary haul, finally! One of my serums did leak a little during shipment, because the cap wasn’t put on tight enough. It was loose when I opened that box; however, such little product leaked that I don’t think it’s a big deal. I planned on using this in the morning when my current serum is done and that serum has only a few uses left. I got 8 different products and will be buying more of the line when I can justify it. I want to try everything to see what works for my skin and build up my own affordable skin care regimen.

My box was packaged beautifully and simply. I love the little touches and the pamphlets on how to use the products are really helpful. I kinda know how I want to use my products and in what order, so I’ll start with products that I would use in the morning.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum

This is the one that leaked a little. It is a hydrating serum and is supposed to plump up the skin. It is perfect for applying in the morning, when my skin needs some extra moisture before I add on a ton of mattifying products to keep it matte. I’m already using a hyaluronic morning serum, so it’s nice to find one that is very affordable. The one I have I got free from BrandBacker for reviewing purposes and it is $40 an ounce. This is an ounce and I only paid $6.80.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Eye Serum

I have a problem with dark circles and this eye serum is supposed to correct that. I like to use an eye gel in the morning and a cream at night for more moisture. I’m hoping that I will see a difference in my dark circles and this bottle will last me at least 6 months with just using it once a day on my eyes. I might use it at night before my eye cream as well. I’ll have to see how it performs with my current eye cream.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum

I’ve been hearing amazing things about this on the internet. I would use this at night as my serum before putting on moisturizer. I’m not going to open this up for a while, because I still have a bottle of Paula’s Choice that I need to use up first. I think it is kinda similar to this product and I don’t want too many of the same thing open at the same time. Masks are one thing, but serums are another. I don’t feel like the Paula’s Choice is really doing anything for my skin. Hopefully, I notice something when I start using this one. If I get a bad breakout, I might crack this one out anyway.

The Ordinary Retinol 1% Face Cream

I won’t be cracking out this face cream until I have finished two jars that are already open. I heard that this stuff is really strong, too. It’s going to sit in my back stock for a bit. I know for my skin that retinol works great on keeping skin clear from breakouts, so if this agrees with my skin, I think I’ll be buying it and using it as my nightly moisturizer. I might alternate it with a facial oil at night. I do love a good oil.

The Ordinary Latic Acid 5% + HA 2% Serum

This is a nightly serum that is supposed to clear uneven skin tone, texture, and fine lines. This can be used in junction with another serum. I might use it with the other HA 2% that I bought, so that it dilutes the lactic acid if it bothers my skin. I’ve used glycolic acid before, so I don’t think I’ll be sensitive to it. I plan on using a bit on the top of my arms as well, since I get little bumps on them.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil

I bought this oil for my face to use when I run out of the Sunday Riley oil. In combination with the other treatments that I bought, I believe that I can mimic the effects of the Sunday Riley UFO oil for about the quarter of the price. Once I use up the oil that I bought for my hair, I would use this on my hair as well. This oil is probably better quality anyway and the other oil isn’t 100%. This has no other ingredient but oil. No water in sight. I am getting the purest oil at low price.

The Ordinary Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% Serum

This is a twice to three times a week treatment serum for lackluster skin and signs of aging. I sort of bought this for my dad to try out, but my skin can get dull looking. This would be a great twice weekly serum to apply to combat dull looking skin. My pores get so blocked up that I think my skin looks dull because of it. My dad is always game for something that will help out his skin, so I’m sure he’ll try it with me. Nothing wrong with a little anti-aging in your mid-twenties.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Mask

This is a ten minute acne fighting mask that can be used once a week. I need to use up a few of my clay masks first before I crack this beauty open. I can excited to try a red mask. Masks like this are so easy to use and only take up ten minutes of your day. I wonder if it will make my face look red? That could be cool.

I’m very happy with the variety of products that I received. Most of them are for nighttime use, because that is when I have time to pamper my skin. I will let you guys know what I think about these products after I have used them up. I doubt that all of these will work for my skin, but hopefully, I’ll have some repurchases when I make a new order from this company probably later this year.

With Love,

Mini Walmart Haul *Day 10*

Yes, that’s a Kmart bag, but you get the picture. I got a bag of stuff from Walmart that I want to share with all of you. I picked up these things while picking up stuff for the animals and a few food items for the week. I bought a couple of beauty items and something for Dean. I haven’t done any big shopping lately. Next weekend, I’ll be hitting the clearance rack at Macy’s and Marshall’s for clothes for Dean mainly.

Veet Gel Cream Hair Remover

This is a product that I will always go back to. It really does work and doesn’t make my legs sensitive afterwards. I don’t use the plastic scraper that it comes with. I have a detachable shower head with a handle to it. So, I take it down and spray my legs with water to rinse the stuff off and them just lightly rub my legs to remove the dead hair. I leave this stuff on for 8 minutes. Any less, and my ankle hairs will not come off. Its a really great product and I stand by it, unless the formula changes. My legs are allergic to Nair, which I feel is harsher on the skin.

Cleansing Water

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

I said that I would try another drugstore cleansing water and this is it. I bought the pink one, because the blue/green one is for waterproof makeup and it looked oily. There was a layer on top of the water. I just use this to refresh my face in the morning. I don’t want oil on my face. I’m excited to give it a try after I’m done with a deluxe sample that I’m using. Has anyone else tried this? Did you like it? Simple Cleansing Water was just eh, to me. I wasn’t impressed by it. I’m hoping that this one will be better. I like other skincare products from Garnier, so I have high hopes.

Pampers Splashers

Pampers Splashers Disposable Swim Pants

Danielle’s mother gave me a $2 USD coupon off of this product and I just had to buy a pack to try them out. I will be taking Dean to the ocean and to lakes, so I need a diaper that can get wet. These should last the whole summer since it goes up until 34 pounds and he’s almost 17. They are Sesame St themed, which is cute. There are 24 of them, so that should last a few times of going to the beach, where I would use a combo of regular diapers and these ones. The package states that they have tear away sides, double leg cuffs, and there will be no diaper swelling. They have the iconic Pampers diaper smell, which smells like baby powder. They smell like this since Pamper pretreats their diapers with a powder that prevents diaper rash. They look cute, but are also very useful. They ended up being $8 USD with the coupon, that’s 2.75 for 8 of them. Thanks!

Well, that is my mini Walmart haul. When I tryout the pants, I will give a review on them and there will be more baby /child posts to come. I’m coming up with more baby related ideas like a monthly Dean update. It’s going to be lots of fun!

With Love ❤

September Favorites

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I know that I am late with my favorites post, but I’m even later on my Ipsy post than usual. It will be posted in the next week or so. My new job has messed with my posting schedule a bit. I’m also going to be working on my Wishlist for Christmas 2014 and I will be uploading it as part of my 25 Days of Christmas segment on my blog. I will release it piece by piece. I’m basically writing it for my family and friends, so they know what type of things that I would like to receive. It is also for myself though, so that I know what I want to buy with gift cards! I almost have enough Yappem points to purchase my 10 USD Sephora Gift Card! That is very exciting for me. After that gift card, I’ll probably purchase an Amazon one for some new books that I have my eye on. Well, I’ll stop rambling now!

Peter Thomas Roth:

Roth Produts

This stuff is truly amazing! It is helping to really tame my skin. My skin is not clear. I still have my hormonal imbalance to fix in order for me to be acne free. I’m mostly dealing with red marks and rough bumpy skin from acne. I’ve never had a really bad time with acne and I believe that once I address my issues my acne will be next to nonexistent again. This line though makes white heads disappear overnight and really helps to speed up the healing process. I will be buying more items from this line to pamper my skin. This line has gotten my face to the point where I don’t have to cake on concealer and foundation anymore. I can just put a layer of BB cream and feel great about myself.

Morning Skin care Routine

Heya Fellow Gurus!

I thought that I would share my morning skin care routine with all of you. I know that I find it helpful when other people post this on their blogs as well. Before I begin, let me give you my skin profile. I have oily, acne prone skin that is also ingredient sensitive. I am allergic to gluten and chemical sunscreen. I am against parabens, oils (mineral), and alcohol ingredients in my skin care. My skin also suffers from hyperpigmentation from acne. It’s a real pain. Time to begin!

Step 1: I always wash my hands first and wet my face. Then, I dry my hands.

Micro ScrubFacial Wash
Step 2: I either use The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion or Lush’s Aquamarina in the morning to wash my face with. If I’m using the scrub, I’ll apply it directly to my Clarisonic Mia and go on to step 3. If I’m using the clay wash, I’ll rub it directly onto my face and add a bit of water to get a good paste layer on my face, before going onto step 3.

clarisonic mia
Step 3: I use my Clarisonic Mia for one minute on my face massaging the product into my pores. I concentrate on my problem areas. Then, I rinse the device and rinse my face of any remaining cleanser. I either pat my face dry or go onto step 3.5.

Facial Wash
Step 3.5: I use Lush Aquamarina if I used the scrub. I paste it up on my face and leave it on for a minute or two. This relieves any redness my face might have from being exfoliated.

Toner spray
Step 4: I spray my dry face with my toner and then rub a dry cotton ball over my face to catch any cleanser residue. The toner I use is The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz, because it is gentle enough for daytime use and it has vitamin skin which helps to lighten hyperpigmentation.

acne med
Step 4.5: When my skin is spotty, I apply a acne medication sample that I got from my dermatologist. It is called Clindagel and it’s just a topical gel that I apply to my active breakouts.

Step 5: I always apply a serum in the morning. It helps with my makeup application and I bought this once, because I was told it would help with acne. While it doesn’t help for me with my acne issues, I like the feel of the serum and that it is preventing wrinkles. When I run out, I will be looking for something different. The one I use is The Body Shop Nuriganics Drops of Youth. I was on a Body Shop craze until May. Now, I’m more laid back with the store and have learned what works and doesn’t work with my skin.

facial moisturizer
Step 6: I use Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream as my daily moisturizer. It is a gel, so it helps my face not to be as oily and it really sinks into my skin after a couple of minutes. I love the smell and the way it feels. A little dab of this is enough for my whole entire face.

spf lotion
Step 7: I always remember to put on spf due to my hyperpigmentation and skin cancer scars. I am trying out Aveeno Active Naturals Natural Protection Mineral Block with SPF 30 because of its UVA and UVB protection and it is supposed to be non-irritating. My skin has little irritation bumps on my forehead and I hate them. I can only see them, but they are annoying. Exfoliation seems to help, but I think it’s also from irritation. My skin always seems to get a little worse in the summer months.

And that is my daily morning routine for my skin! Until Tomorrow!

With Love,
